Gene Decker named 2013
Volunteer of the Year!
The Tree House Child and Family Center would not be a success without the help of the special people that volunteer. These are the people who somehow find the time and energy to give to the Tree House because they truly care about children. These are the people the Tree House is blessed to have.
Gene Decker received the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2013. Gene received the award as a result of his dedication, and for the countless hours he put in at the Tree House. He volunteered from his heart because he cares about children. Gene’s hard work made the Tree House a special place for children and families of Walworth County. Beyond the handy work provided to the Tree House, Gene also donated sizeable financial contributions.
When asked about his award, Gene stated, “It was undeserved. I’ve put in a lot of work this year with the WCAC’s landscaping issues, putting in 100-hour weeks, but I’m just basically the guy who mows the lawn. The people who thought of the facility – which was almost 20 years ago – and raised the funds to make it go, those are the people who deserve the credit. I’m a long way down on the totem pole for people who deserve the award.”
